Logging technology and setup is changing. Historically, the steep slopes were only logged by cable, skylines, and traditional methods using yarders. Through advances in technology, more options are offered that get the job done safer, faster, and in some cases, more economical. This Steep Slope Logging course will cover Guy Lines, carriage options, tethered logging practices, cable strengths, and much more.
The first day will be classroom instruction and the second day will be an optional half-day excursion to see some local steep slope logging. Capacity is limited for the half-day excursion so please register early if you are interested in participating.
Who is this training for: We highly encourage all who work on steep slopes to attend. We will have guest speaking loggers that are currently deploying this technology come in throughout the day to share the knowledge they are learning in this ever-evolving logging system. Whether you are in unit layout, planning, or logging currently and looking to extend your operation, this training will benefit you.
Jeff Wimer, Wimer Safety Consulting Inc., renown expert in logging safety and the instructor of similar courses like this throughout the Pacific Northwest, will lead this course. His 40 years of industry knowledge will be accompanied by industry experts that are currently deploying the latest advances in steep slope logging.
