Scaling for Non-Scalers

About This Event

Scaling for Non-Scalers – new format and instructors for 2025. This one-day course will feature a morning of classroom instruction followed by a hands-on afternoon in a working mill yard.

In the ever-changing environment of forestry, forest products, and the ways in which product is bought and sold, it is critical that today’s industry professionals fully understand how logs are scaled in the Pacific Northwest. With an advanced understanding of these issues, participants will gain insight from a team of qualified presenters representing scaling associations from across the region. This training is designed specifically for non-scaling professionals, providing a working knowledge of the scaling process, log rules, sorts, grades, and accountability.

Instructors for this course are from the Columbia River Log Scalers Association, the Yamhill Log Scalers Association, and members of the Oregon Society of American Foresters (OSAF).
