Due to the public funding crisis in Lane County, there are inadequate funds to support the OSU Forestry Extension Program, including getting ponderosa pine help from Steve Bowers, Lane Extension Forester. Steve has been working mostly in Douglas County, where he is serving as their Extension agent. Forestry Extension programming in Lane County has been reduced to workshops and field tours providing they are financially sustainable. This means that any programming in the county will come with a registration fee to cover operating costs until funding for the local program is secured.
