We are very pleased to announce that this year’s meeting will be a joint and partially overlapping meeting with the Western Forest Economists. In addition to our normal program, we are very excited to offer an outstanding joint session that will foster discussion of current research findings and the exchange of ideas in a wide-range of topics across disciplines. We hope that you find a joint Western Mensurationists and Forest Economists meeting intriguing and engaging.
Meeting Format: The program format is similar to past years: ice breaker on Sunday night (6/10), with a joint meeting on Monday (6/11) morning, parallel sessions on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning (6/12), and an informal banquet on Monday night (6/11). The format for the parallel meetings will be 20 minute presentations selected from submissions. If you are interested in a making a presentation, please submit a title and brief description of your talk to one of this year’s organizers listed below. As in past years, we encourage submissions from students. No proceedings will be produced. Abstracts are due on or before March 31, 2012. We plan to have the program and registration materials distributed by mid-April.
Lodging and Registration : The 2012 meeting will be held at the beautiful Agate Beach Best Western, Newport, Oregon (http://bestwesternoregon.com/hotels/best-western-plus-agate-beach-inn) located three hours from Portland International Airport and just off scenic US 101. Single or double rooms will be $104 (plus tax) per night and conference registration will be comparable to the last couple years. Great Things to Do : Newport is Oregon's most popular destinations known for Crabbing, Bird Watching, Boating, Golfing, Fishing, Kite Flying, Wind Surfing, Whale Watching, etc. Newport’s location on the Oregon Coast makes it a natural starting point for outdoor adventures including camping, Hiking, White Water Rafting and Wildlife Viewing.
