Update of the Seeds of Woody Plants in the United States:

This is an update of the Seeds of Woody Plants in the United States which was first published in 1974 and has gone through 5 re-printings. This current edition, at 1,233 pages has been issued as Agricultural Handbook 727. The first 7 chapters cover general principles such as seed biology, harvesting, storage, testing and nursery practices. The remaining chapters include 236 genera of native and introduced woody plants. The information for each genus is presented in the following sections: growth habit; occurrence and use; flowering and fruiting; collection, extraction and storage of seeds; pre-germination treatments; germination tests and nursery practices.
